My Kind of Gal

Margaret Gipsy Moth

1951 – March 21, 2010

Simply put, Margaret Moth made an impression.

Given her jet-black hair, thick black eyeliner, black clothes and combat boots (which she often slept in while on assignment), people didn't always know what to think upon meeting her. She was quirky, the sort who excused herself from a social gathering by saying she had to wash her socks. And she was fearless, the kind of woman who not only kept the camera rolling while under fire, but zoomed in on a soldier who was shooting at her.

Colleagues learned quickly to appreciate all that this CNN camerawoman was. Beyond her rich personality, which included deep optimism and kindness, she brought to her profession top-notch technical abilities, unmatched dedication and an approach to work that inspired others to push themselves.

Moth sought out, even demanded, assignments in conflict zones. She barely survived being shot in the face in Sarajevo in 1992, only to go back as soon as she was physically able. The multiple reconstructive surgeries that followed, as well as the hepatitis C she contracted from a consequent blood transfusion, were mere obstacles she moved around.

But more than three years after being diagnosed with colon cancer, her tremendous life journey has come to an end.

Bruja

Last night everyone was telling their scary stories. And can I say....creee-pay! Goosebumps.

So anyways, after we got done I went straight to bed having the scary thoughts completely out of my mind and counting cute little sheep in my head.

It wasn't until 4am, in the middle of snores and dreams, I heard...
"Nicole? ..... Nicole? ....Please, Nicole? ..... wake up ... *sniff sniff* Nicole? .... Please?"

It was my little cousin begging me to wake up but she ended up waking up everyone else in the room.

Annoyed and bothered I just moved over and was asking myself "Why is everyone so scared?" and closed my eyes once again.

Once everyone felt safe and in the middle of the bed and not at the edge, I started to hear their snores and what not.

Now the tables had turned....

I began to think about all the stories and all the images that popped in my head.
Witches, ghost children, horsebirds, and yes, even dwarfs.

I was freaking out!
I started to pray and do the thing I always do when I'm scared.....
sing.

"Jesus loves the little children. All the children in the world!"
"Jesus loves me, oh yes he does. Jesus loves me, oh yes he does!"

But that didn't work either.
So for the next hour, at 5 o clock in the morning I was up thinking if I turn around, will there be a ghost face staring right at me?

Gahhh.....

Good Night, everybody

My Dream from Last Night

So my mom and dad picked me up from school and said, "Get ready. We're gonna go to New York just for one day". And I thought "WOW". So I just changed my shoes to my bangin ankle boots that were "New York suitable." They then dropped me back to school and all I could do was brag to all my friends and teachers what I was doing for just one day.

That was a good dream. I think I would be a bit more humble though...like Pacquiao.

My Dream from Last Night

This is real..my mind really works like this.

So allover the city, there were Indians going around with machine guns killing all the the Filipinos! It was crazy hiding behind brick walls and stuff. Then I go to a furniture store to hide under the bed models but no luck because all of the workers were our to get me too! I soon realized that they could never catch me if I am in my friends house because that friend would never betray me. It all came to a halt when that friend kissed me....?!

things are getting weird.
